On April 14th, 1977, in a New York City hospital,
a woman by the name of Rosellen Gellar gave birth to a child that would
one day become one of Hollywood's most amazing and beautiful actresses.
Her name is Sarah Michelle Gellar, a person no one had expected to become
so sucessful at such a young age.
Sarah's career began at the age of 4, in a
local restaurant in her hometown, when an agent spotted her. Within a month,
Sarah was given a part in a Burger King commercial and had started filming
her first movie, Invasion of Privacy. More and more agents began to see
potential in Sarah and they got in contact with her. Soon, Sarah started
a career in theatre. She
appeared in the many onstage performances including "The Widow Claire".
She then went on to appear in numerous commercials and made guest appearances
on many TV shows such as "Spenser: For Hire", "Love, Sidney", "The David
Letterman Show" and "The Regis Philbin Show".
Then, she was given the chance to play Sydney
Rutledge in "Swans Crossing", a soap opera that is highly watched by teenagers
in the late 80's. Sarah's popularity continued to grow, but was still
not at high as it could be. Sarah soon goes on to get a permanent
part on a show, when she was
asked to be in the award winning soap opera, "All My Children".
Everyone was impressed with Sarah's acting
on the show. She later won an Emmy award for her role on "All My Children".
After all the hard work, Sarah finally gets her big break in 1996, when
she chosen to star in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". The show became a hit!
Sarah's popularity skyrocketed. In late 1996, Sarah began filming her first
big movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Soon afterwards she was given
a part in "Scream 2", and instantly became a big name in the horror genre.
1997 was Sarah's big year. She began taping
the 2nd season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". She was proclaimed one of
TV's 40 Most Fascinating Stars. "A talented, promising young new star"
says Entertainment Weekly. She is named as one of the top ten in People
Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" and was considered one of the best
new actresses of the year by Time Magazine, US Magazine, and
Celebrity Online. She appears in over 50 different magazines, and makes
the covers of publications such as Rolling Stone, YM, Seventeen, and TV
Guide. She also wins a Blockbuster Award in the category "Best Supporting
Actress in a Horror Film" for her role in "I Know What You Did Last Summer".
It is now May 1998. She's been nominated for
a MTV Movie Award in category "Breakthrough Performance". She has begun
taping a new season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and is currently filming
several new movies including "Cruel Inventions" and "Vanilla Fog".
Today, on top of all the work and stress she
goes through, she still has time to go ice skating, scuba diving, shopping,
and spending time with friends. She is a very nice, caring person, with
many special talents like kickboxing and tae kwon doe. She is an amazing
actress, and deserves all the respect she gets. |
