From Weather Girl to MTV to Revlon Model to
Actress, Daisy Fuentes is now a household name with viewers around the
world. Born in Havana and was raised in Madrid until her
parents emigrated to New Jersey, Fuentes is fluent in both Spanish
and English. Currently hosting her second season of "America's Funniest
Home Videos" on ABC, Fuentes is passionate about backgammon, cooking and
keeping quiet on her personal life.
In 1986, while studying communications and
journalism
at Bergen Community College, Daisy began her television
career as a news reporter and anchor for the evening news on WXTV channel
41 at age 19, Univision's New York affiliate. In January 1988, Daisy assumed
a position with WNJU channel 47, Telemundo's New York affiliate, before
MTV spotted her to host "MTV Internacional." Fuentes was the host of "MTV
Internacional," MTV's weekly syndicated
Spanish-language video program, for the six years it aired. While at
MTV, Fuentes also held a recurring role one the ABC daytime drama, "Loving".
Her additional television credits include appearances on "Dream On,"
"Cybill" and most recently, "The Larry Sanders Show."
From 1994-95, while a member of CNBC's "Talk
All-Stars," Daisy shared the limelight with such famed
television interviewers as Phil Donahue, Dick Cavett and
Geraldo Rivera as host of her own talk show. Cindy Crawford, Harry
Connick, Jr., Patti LaBelle and Jon Stewart were among her eclectic guests.
Recently, Daisy completed a featured role in
the offbeat
thriller, "Curdled"; finished production on an exercise video and was
showcased in both a 1996 and 1997 16-month calendar layout with Landmark
Calendars. Daisy has appeared on multiple covers of the Spanish language
version of Cosmopolitan, Vandidades, and Harper's Bazaar. She has also
had covers for Eres, Shape, Fitness and Latina. Like Cindy Crawford, Claudia
Schiffer and Halle Berry, she holds a worldwide multi-year contract to
represent Revlon's cosmetic lines. Daisy also holds endorsements
with Pantene, M&Ms and American Express.
In 1997 and 98, Daisy hosted "The ALMA Awards"
with
Jimmy Smits and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve '98" with her
"America's Funniest Home Videos" co-host, John Fugelsang. She also
co-hosted "The 1998 World Music Awards." She has hosted Miss Teen USA,
Miss USA, and the Miss Universe pageants.
With all of her accomplishments and skills,
Daisy still
claims she doesn't stress about her career. Being "Happy
in the Heart" is all that really matters according to her. But
who keeps her heart happy? Daisy won't say: she's been married once and
romantically linked to Luis Miguel, but when asked about them, she says
a consistent, "No Comment." However she is very close with her family and
her dog named Noodles. |
